At a Roulette playing table, a player needs to understand basic roulette terminology to fully grasp and enjoy the game. Educating a player about Roulette terminology is the aim of this article. Following are some of these common roulette terms.
American Wheel - An American wheel has 38 numbers while European wheel has only 37 numbers. American wheel has a double zero (00).
Ball - commonly a white ball is use that is let to spin in the roulette wheel. Where it finally lands determine the outcome of the game.
Column Bet - A bet type where a player bet in all numbers on a vertical column. A maximum of 12 numbers can be bet upon at a single time. House gives a 2to 1 payout for this type.
Combination Bet - a type of roulette bet where the possibility of having more than one outcome.
Corner Bet - hoping that the ball lands at four numbers at given time then bet on this type. A tempting 8 to 1 payout awaits the winner.
Dozen Bet - just like a column bet but this time a player is putting wage on a number group where the ball will eventually lands. Numbers 1-12, numbers 13-24 and numbers 25-36 are the three different groups.
European Wheel - the distinct difference of this wheel from an American roulette wheel is that '00' is not available. Similar to the American wheel, except there is no 00. Winning odds is slightly favorable.
Even - Odd Bet - a player bets that the wheel will show up with either an odd or even A 1 to 1 payoff guarantees this type of bet.
High - Low Bet - bet placed where the outcome will show the wheel ending up either with low number (1-18) or on numbers 19 to 36 (high number) Payoff is peg at 1 to 1. Inside Bet - any bet placed on the number grid part of the table
Outside Bet - a player bet outside the number bid. It could be betting on what color (black or white), odd number, even and other such betting possibility
Red-Black Bet - when you bet on either a red colored or black colored number showing up on the wheel. The house pays a 1 to 1 payoff.
Split Bet - A combination bet, where you bet on two possible numbers landing.
Straight Up Bet - betting on one possible number showing up on the wheel. Payoff is at 35 to 1.
Trio Bet - A roulette bet where the ball will end in one of three numbers. Similar to a combination bet.
Zero, Double Zero - A bet that the ball will lands on the green color or double zero (00).Only American roulette wheel offers this bet.
